Dr. Joseph P. Nadeau, Artistic Director
The 2011-2012 season marks Dr. Joseph P. Nadeau's third full season with the Kansas City Women's Chorus since taking over as the Artistic Director. Since the spring of 2009 and Dr. Nadeau's arrival, the Kansas City Women's Chorus has doubled in size. In addition to serving as the artistic director of the KCWC, Joe also teaches music in the Shawnee Mission School district and is starting his 14th season as the conductor and artistic director for the celebrated Heartland Men's Chorus based here in K.C.

Dr. Nadeau received his bachelor of music degree in music education from the University of Maine, where he served as assistant conductor for the University of Maine Singers and Concert Band, as well as guest conductor for the Symphonic Band. Joe also assisted the U-Maine singers on a tour through France, Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg. After completing his bachelor's degree, Joe began teaching in Colorado public schools.
In 1993, Joe started singing with the Denver Gay Men's Chorus and was assistant director and interim artistic director for the group before being hired as artistic director of the Heartland Men's Chorus in 1998. In the meantime, Joe completed a Master's degree in choral conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Dr. Eph Ehly. In June 2007, Joe completed his doctorate of musical arts in choral conducting at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
Joe is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the Music Educators National Conference, the Choristers Guild, GALA Choruses, Inc., and Chorus America. He has served as conductor and clinician at festivals and performances on the regional and state levels.
